कारणदेहः इत्यभिधानं कुतः
अज्ञानं स्थूलसूक्ष्मदेहयोः हेतुः। अतः कारणं इत्युच्यते। तत्त्वज्ञानेन अज्ञानं दह्यते। अतः देहः इत्युच्यते।
इदं अज्ञानं देवालयगर्भगृहवत् ब्रह्माश्रया ब्रह्माणं आवृणोति।
what does kāraṇa deha mean
Ajñāna is the cause of the sthūla and sūkṣma dehas. Thus, it is called kāraṇa. It is burned through tattva jñāna. Thus, it is called a deha. Like the darkness in the garbha gr̥ha of a temple, this ajñāna resides in brahman, and envelopes it (i.e. āśraya and viṣaya are both brahman).
