पञ्चमहाभूतानां पञ्चविंशतितत्त्वानि कथं जायन्ते
पञ्चीकृतमहाभूतानां स्वस्य मुख्यभागः एकः, अन्यभूतानां अमुख्यभागचतुष्टयं चेति प्रत्येकं पञ्चतत्त्वानि। पञ्चानां मिलित्वा पञ्चविंशतितत्त्वानि।
how does pañcīkaraṇa result in 25 parts
Each of the pañcīkr̥ta mahābhūtas has it’s own major portion, and a minor portion of the other four bhūtas, for a total of five parts. Altogether, there are thus 25 tattvas.
