सृष्टिः
ब्रह्म सृष्टेः आरम्भकाले जीवानां परिपक्वकर्मनिमित्तेन “एकोऽहं . . . बहु स्यां प्रजाजेय” इतीच्छा जाता।
अनया इच्छया ब्रह्मणः उपाधिभूतमायायां क्षोभः जातः। क्रमशः आकाशः वायुः तेजः जलं पृथ्वी चेति पञ्चमहाभूतानि उत्पन्नानि।
एतेषां पञ्चीकरणं न जातम्। अतः अपञ्चीकृतम्। एतेभ्यः समष्टिव्यष्टिरूपा सूक्ष्मसृष्टिः संजाता। ततः ईश्वरस्य इच्छया पञ्चीकारणं जातम्। ततः भूतानि पञ्चीकृतानि जातानि। तेभ्यः समष्टिव्यष्टिरूपेण स्थूलसृष्टिः संजाता।
Creation
Brahman, at the very beginning of creation, due to the fructifying karmas of jīvas had the desire to create and manifest as many.
As a result of this desire, kṣobha came about in brahman’s upādhi māyā. In turn the five mahābhūtas – ākāśa, vāyu, teja, jala and pr̥thvī came about.
These bhūtas are apañcīkr̥ta since the pañcīkaraṇa has not yet occurred. This subtle creation is both samaṣṭi and vyaṣṭi. Then, due to the icchā of īśvara, pañcīkaraṇa takes place. With the pañcīkr̥ta bhūtas, gross creation of both samaṣṭi and vyaṣṭi takes place.
